Cultural Preservation

Karuna-Shechen works to ensure the continuation of heritages that promote well-being. Monastic schools, monasteries, and nunneries are places of education and cultural preservation that also provide social services and moral support to their local communities. These services are essential for the Himalayan people.

In Tibet, we support individual monks, nuns and yogis in their practice of retreat and meditation. We also help smaller monasteries, retreat centers, nunneries, and philosophical colleges to continue to preserve the vitality of Tibet's spiritual heritage.

Karuna-Shechen works with Shechen Publications to edit and print the Rinchen Terdzö, the largest of the Five Treasuries compiled by Jamgön Kongtrul. With the support of the Tsadra Foundation, forty-five of the seventy volumes have been printed so far.

Other spiritual and cultural heritage projects are handled by our co-founding partner Dilgo Khyentse Fellowship. Please see: http://www. shechen. org
