New Surgical Clinic, Tibet
Karuna-Shechen is currently funding the construction of a new surgical clinic in an area of Tibet devastated by natural disaster. The clinic, now in the final stages of construction, will be equipped to offer a range of diagnostic and surgical procedures. The facilities will include 40 beds, 63 rooms, a kitchen, and a restaurant. Patients will benefit from the in-house pathology lab, X-ray, ultrasound, and cardiac monitoring. Since most of the region’s buildings and amenities were destroyed, the population surrounding the new surgical clinic is in great need of these health care services.

Karuna-Shechen’s own clinics in Tibet are often the only medical care facilities available in their surrounding areas. They are vital to the health of the local people, including nomads, farmers, students and teachers, as well as monks and nuns. All patients in our clinics are treated free of charge and medicine is offered at the wholesale price.
